Willapa Bay

Willapa Bay is the second largest estuary on the United States Pacific coast with over 260 square miles of water surface. More than half of it's surface area lies in the intertidal zone, and in fact, half of the volume of water inside it enters and leaves with every tide. Much of it, including the entirety of Long Island, has been set aside as part of the Willapa National Wildlife Refuge.

Baker Bay

Looking to experience breathtaking scenery with a local viewpoint? Baker Bay is the first large indentation on the Washington side of the Columbia River just east of Cape Disappointment. The town of Ilwaco, Washington is located inside of Baker Bay. The upstream end of Baker Bay is at Chinook Point, home of Fort Columbia and Fort Columbia State Park. The entrance to Baker Bay is located at Sand Islands. It's location on the Columbia River waterway subjects it to extreme tides and currents.

Why do I need a guide?

The tide book can be wrong and the weatherman's not always right. A local guide who knows weather and tides makes for a good kayak ride.

-Launch at the right location.
-Determine the best ride for the tide and weather conditions.
-Encounter a wilderness only accessible by boat.
